Day 1. Beijing to Taiyuan

Take the morning fast train from Beijing xi to Taiyuan nan Station. Meet up by your private guide and driver at Taiyuan Nan, then drive to visit Jinci Temple and Qiao Family compound before arrive in Pingyao. You also can have a first Shanxi Meal at Taiyuan.

Jinci Temple

Jinci Temple is not so far from Taiyuan, about 30km, and 30 minutes driving from Taiyuan Nan station.

Jinci Temple is most beautiful temple in Shanxi. You can visit the Ming dynasty stage, Song dynasty Iron status, and the first cross bridge bridge and 1000 years old Saint Mother Hall and the 43 Song dynasty colorful sculptures.

And there is the cypress tree that is 3000 years old.

Qiao Family Compound

Just need 1 hour driving from Jinci Temple to Qiao Family Compound. Famous for the movie “Raised up the red lantern” at 1991.

It looks like the Chinese word: double happiness from the birds view.

6 mains courtyards and 323 rooms. Which is back to 200 years ago. Smart wood carving, stone carving, and nice furniture in the room.

To visit the Qiao Family Compound, you will know the Jin merchant’s life 200 years ago, and know how they made money, built house and how they managed the family running.

After visit the Qiao Family Compound, drive 1 hour to Pingyao. Upon arrive, guide will help you get the entrance code to get to your hotel, will arrange the golf car to get to your hotel.

Because of the car do not have permit to enter into the old city.
